has saved me countless hours of independent research by keeping me up to date on all the latest health news on her Substack . Mary Anne has been a part of women’s healthcare “forever” as a clinician and administrator.I’d be losing my mind right now if I didn’t have her to rely on for trustworthy health reporting of what’s been going on in the U.S. (spoiler alert: it’s been a lot).
In a recent article, she announced that two major U.S. pharmaceutical companies are marketing their weight loss drugs directly to consumers (out of pocket). As far as Mary Anne and I know, this has never happened before, but the pharmaceutical companies have been losing market share of these weight loss drugs due to a shortage and compounding pharmacies being allowed to make their own versions.
This could be good or bad depending on your perspective. As a consumer, there’s added safety from purchasing an FDA-approved pharmaceutical (aka, you know what you’re getting) over a compounding pharmacy that could have variability in its formula.

Why are menopause symptoms so hard to treat, and why are so many of us left to figure it out alone? I explored these questions last week while sharing an update on my ongoing struggle with perimenopause brain fog.
I'd love to hear from others who are going through it!
