Sheila Góis Habib writes about menstrual health and fertility awareness from her “Brown, Shia Ismaili Muslim, Portuguese” perspective in Menstrual Health 101. She’s a bilingual author on Substack who meets the educational needs of women in both English and Portuguese.
In her recent article, she shares what it was like growing up in a closed community that didn’t speak about menstrual health, birth control, or fertility. She’s challenging the norms of her family's traditions and culture to highlight these important topics. Below is the English version.

Chitra is an Ayurvedic Doctor here to share this ancient Indian medicine with us while we navigate midlife. She shares her wisdom and practical tips in the Art of Menopausing: Hidden in Plain Sight. If you’ve heard of ashwaganda, you can thank Ayurvedic medicine. Although Ayurveda is a well-developed philosophy that encompasses various interconnected elements, Chitra writes in a down-to-earth and practical way to implement the best that Ayurveda has to offer.
In the U.S., we're just coming out of our Thanksgiving food coma and are trying to regain momentum again after being slowed down by tryptophan, the amino acid in turkey that makes everyone sleepy, and overeating. Chitra’s timely article is here to help! I now have my ginger tea on stand-by.

Jess Mujica writes Go With The Flow: Women’s Cycle Awareness, and knows how to harness the secrets of the menstrual cycle to maximize our body’s potential. She’s been a Substack writer since June 2023.
Her latest article explains why I sometimes feel the urge to be quiet while at other times I want to sing at the top of my lungs. As women, we aren’t meant to remain consistent throughout the month; instead, we adapt and change as our hormonal ratios change. Rhythm is an inherent part of who we are.
Vibe: Sing it, sister!

This is about the overall societal penchant to rush people through grief and to ‘get over it’, because it makes us (individually, and as a society) uncomfortable when dealing with people who are grieving, and this is a reminder to not ‘grief shame’ others and make them feel like something is wrong with them, when things are hard enough as it is.

This is all about the importance of connection – with ourselves (emotionally/internally), with the outside world, and most importantly, with each other – because we’re all interconnected in ways we might not even realize and it is so important for our mental health (connection with others in particular).
